Guided Cruises on the Canal du Midi

Over two hundred and forty kilometers long, about sixty sluices, tens of thousands of trees along the banks... and a classification as a World Heritage Site ! Here are some impressive facts about the canal you are about to navigate on. Our panoramic promenade boats, Lou Gabaret and Helios , are specially designed to travel on this waterway, at six kilometers per hour.

Cruises

Carcassone Cruises (labeled Qualité Sud de France and Qualité Tourisme), uses two boats offering panoramic views : Lou Gabaret and Helios. Departing from the Port de Carcassonne, you will have the choice between five different itineraries to discover the Canal du Midi , along its hauling path and across its numerous sluices. The trips take from 1h30 to 2h45, according to the one you may choose. Two to eight departures a day are scheduled, depending on the season. For easy access, you will be boarding right next to the Carcassonne SNCF train station.. Each lunchbreak in July and August is the opportunity for a romantic gateway, with a country set picnic in the jardin de Foucaud, located on the bank of the Canal du Midi.

Cruises

The "City Cruise"is a guided cruise on the Canal du Midi departing from the Port de Carcassonne on the Helios and Lou Gabaret boats. The cruise lasts 1h30 and includes a sluice crossing, the Epanchoir de Foucaud, the Meridien, the Pont Canal crossing and a panoramic view of the Medieval City...

On the "Relaxing Cruise " you will let yourself go along a twelve kilometers promenade on this charming waterway following the hauling path and its centennial trees . You will navigate through the Ladouce sluice from the XVII century, the Iena Bridge and the Arnouze Aqueduct. You will stop over at the épanchoir de Foucaud where you will be able to discover the old canal route, where the new section of the Canal du Midi starts.

The "PicNic Cruise" departs from the Port de Carcassonne and navigates as far as the épanchoir de Foucaud where you will disembark for a picnic break in the landscaped Oc Garden. Following your lunch break, you will carry on with your cruise up to the Ladouce sluice from the XVII century you will cross both ways to be back at the Port at about 3 PM.

The "Nature Cruise" will take you for a 15 kilometers trip towards Toulouse. You will go across two sluices, the Ladouce sluice from the XVII century and one of the most impressive sluices of the Canal du Midi : Herminis...
